Europe's First iPad 3G SIM Card Launched by Cubic Telecom

Irish headquartered Mobile Network Operator, Cubic Telecom has launched what it says is Europe's first SIM card for the new iPad 3G which went on sale in the US on April 30. This means that iPad 3G users will be able to travel and access the web anywhere in Europe without racking up expensive roaming charges.

The first Cubic Telecom iPad 3G SIM cards, sold under the brand name MaxRoam, are available from today at www.maxroam.com. The SIM card costs EUR 75 and comes pre loaded with 50MB of data. Customers can avail of this single low cost transparent rate across all European borders. Apple announced last week that the iPad would be available in nine countries outside the US from 28th May.

"Our R+D team has been working for the last three months on the new MicroSIM or Form Factor 3 SIM card standard which has been adopted by Apple for its new iPad and next generation iPhones," commented Pat Phelan, director of products and innovation, Cubic Telecom.

Cubic Telecom is a Licensed Mobile Network Operator which provides a flexible and smart platform, enabling its partners to offer global roaming services at greatly reduced costs. Customers include multinational corporations, mobile network operators (MNOs), mobile virtual network operators (MVNOs) and travel companies.

The Cubic Telecom technology combines multiple network identities (known as the International Mobile Subscriber Identity or IMSI) on one SIM card to combine affordable global roaming with competitive national services. Cubic Telecom's SIM cards support roaming in 220 countries.
