Barnes & Noble, Inc. (NYSE: BKS), the world's largest bookseller, today announced a Fun and Free eBooks promotion. This special in-store promotion makes enjoying eBooks even more fun by offering free digital titles from bestselling authors to customers who bring their NOOK or other device enabled with free BN eReader software into any Barnes & Noble store. Beginning today and for the next five weeks, customers who show a bookseller their device will receive a special access code, good for that week's free eBook.
To participate, customers simply have to show a bookseller a NOOK eBook Reader or iRex DR800SG device - both powered by the Barnes & Noble eBookstore - or the free BN eReader software on an iPad(TM), iPhone(R), iPod touch(R), BlackBerry(R), HTC HD2(TM), PC or Mac(R) and the bookseller will provide the special weekly access code. Booksellers at the NOOK display in any Barnes & Noble store will gladly help customers download the free BN eReader software to their computing or mobile device so that they can enjoy the promotion. Additional information on the promotion is available at http://www.barnesandnoble.com/u/Free-ebooks-bestelling-authors/379002210.
To redeem the free eBook, customers will simply enter the weekly access code at www.bn.com/redeem, download the title to their Barnes & Noble digital library, and enjoy reading on one or more of their BN eReader-enabled devices. Each access code can be redeemed through July 1, 2010. Among the titles from bestselling authors and series offered in the Fun and Free eBook promotion are The Long Tail by Chris Anderson, Home Safe by Elizabeth Berg, Storm Front by Jim Butcher, One Shot by Lee Childs and The No. 1 Ladies Detective Agency by Alexander McCall Smith.
Customers with BN eReader-enabled devices can shop Barnes & Noble's vast eBookstore of more than one million eBooks, magazines and newspapers and access their personal Barnes & Noble digital library anywhere, on the go. The eReader software also allows Barnes & Noble customers to share eligible eBooks using the company's breakthrough LendMe(TM) technology across a NOOK eBook Reader, iPhone, iPod touch and PC enabled with BN eReader software.
"With our Fun and Free eBook promotion, we're giving Barnes & Noble customers an easy way to enjoy great digital reads from bestselling authors at no cost, just for visiting our store and showing their Barnes & Noble eBookstore-powered or BN eReader-enabled device to one of our booksellers," said Theresa Horner, director, Digital Products, Barnes & Noble. "Our trained booksellers can help customers access the right software for their devices and encourage them to come back each week to get the latest access code to redeem yet another free great read."
